January 22nd, 2024, Riga – The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Latvia, Andrian Roșa, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Forest Service of the Republic of Latvia Arvids Ozols.

During the dialogue, there was an exchange of opinions regarding cooperation opportunities through the exchange of experience, the realization of joint projects, the adjustment of national standards to those of the European Union in the forestry field, due to the high priority of ecology matters on Moldova’s Government agenda.

Latvia being one of the most forested countries in Europe, with over 50% of the territory covered by forests, the meeting took place in the context of the Republic of Moldova's interest in studying the Latvian experience in the forestry field, considering that the National Forest Extension and Rehabilitation Program 2023 - 2032, approved by the Government of our country, provides that in the next 10 years, the areas of forested land will be expanded by about 150 thousand hectares.
