October 31^st, 2023, Riga – The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Latvia Andrian Roșa had a meeting with the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa. During the dialogue, the interest in deepening parliamentary cooperation was reiterated, including through exchange of visits, both at the leadership level and at the level of sectoral commissions, as well as parliamentary friendship groups.

A special topic was the presentation of the achievements of the Republic of Moldova in the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission in the context of obtaining the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union and the objective of opening accession negotiations this year. In this context, the support of the Latvian side for Moldova on the way to the European Union was reiterated, with full support available for the implementation of reforms and the European integration agenda, especially through the exchange of experience and best practices.

The discussions also focused on the consequences of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine on the socio-economic situation in Moldova, especially in the energy sector and the hybrid threats directed against our country. In this context, gratitude was expressed for the recent allocation by Latvia of 50 thousand Euros for increasing the energy resilience of Moldova.
